Facebook recently released two rather robust widgets: the Fan Box and the Live Stream Box, both of which allow Facebook features to be embedded on other websites.Social Media for Events? - Download the amiando Social Media & Events Report 2012 now for free. amiando.com/social-media-report
Today, Facebook launched two more widgets as part of a new centralized widget page where you can grab various Facebook content for quick insertion into a TypePad or Blogger hosted blog, or embedding on a site that supports it.
The two new widgets are a Photo Badge, which shows off photos from your albums, and a Page Badge, which shows basic details about a Facebook Page, like its logo, status, and number of fans. All of these widgets join Facebook’s long existing Profile Badge in the new widget area.
The Photo Badge seems most likely to take off out of the bunch – after all, Facebook has become an enormous photo sharing site. But in terms of functionality, the Fan Box and Live Stream Box are most impressive, while the others offer very little in the way of customization or interactivity.
It seems perhaps like one area of Facebook that has been ignored for too long, as widgets will only further broaden the reach of the world’s top social network.
